Why do Powerlink devices have IP addresses?

All Powerlink devices can support internet protocols such as TCP and UDP. Hence they require IP addresses. This is used for data access during the Asynchronous phase of Powerlink, or alternatively Powerlink devices can be used as standard Ethernet TCP/IP devices.
