Is there a time penalty if I add more axes to the system?
The more nodes you add on the network the more data you will need to exchange. This would increase the cycle time if all devices had the same priority. However Powerlink supports a feature known as Multiplexing, where by time slots are shared between multiple devices. This reduces cycle loading and hence allows a shorter cycle time to be maintained. Devices which are of a lower priority (need updating less frequently) operate within a multiplexed time slot.
