How many axes can I control over ETHERNET Powerlink?

A single Powerlink segment can consist of approximately 240 devices. With Baldor Motion products such as NextMove e100, 16 of these can be closely couple motion controlled axes, performing complex motion types such as interpolation, splines, CAMs etc. Baldor’s MicroFlex e100 drive family are based on the CAN in Automation (CiA) DS402 positioning drive profile, hence the system can have numerous additional axes of independent motion. In some applications it is possible to have up to 239 axes of motion control from one motion controller. Consult a Baldor application engineer for more advice.
