Fieldbus Modules for MotiFlex Drives

Plug-in fieldbus modules are available for MotiFlex e100 drives which provide a data gateway between e100 Mint controllers and external fieldbus networks or allow direct PLC control of MotiFlex e100 drives. These provide a simple but powerful method to consistently exchange process data with devices such as PLC's.

Fieldbus Gateway for e100 Systems

Advantages:

• Only one module required for the entire system (lower cost and inherently simpler than one per drive)
• Powerful control system optimised for simple to complex motion control applications
• Consistent motion / machine control solution, simply install the fieldbus option to match the PLC or device network
• Zero software code configuration for data exchange

The diagram below shows a typical e100 control system with fieldbus gateway installed in one or more MotiFlex e100 drives. Data is then exchanged between the Fieldbus device such as a PLC and the NextMove e100 or Mint Machine Module application via the Powerlink network.

1. NextMove e100 - Powerful 16 axis machine controller
2. HMI connected on CANopen
3. CANopen remote I/O expansion for the system via the drives integrated CANopen port (controlled by NextMove)
   
4. Line-shaft encoder via plug-in card of MotiFlex or encoder input of NextMove e100
5. MicroFlex e100 drives connected on Powerlink
   
6. External 3rd party controllers such as PLC's, connected to the e100 system via a Fieldbus connection
7. A Fieldbus gateway interface installed in the top slot of an additional MotiFlex drive acts as a gateway for the entire system, to any major network / PLC

Using a MotiFlex e100 with Fieldbus option module operating under PLC control

MotiFlex drives can be controlled in speed, torque or positioning modes by PLC's using a suitable fieldbus module. We provide predefined drive control interface (profile) which provides a simple data mapped interface for control of common functions. In addition, Mint Lite programming allows you to modify the drive behaviour to customise the PLC control interface to suit your application needs.
