LSG - Linear Stage Gantry

LSG - Linear Stage GantryUsing linear motor technology, the Linear Stage Gantry (LSG) is designed to speed up and simplify the building of high throughput, precision positioning systems. Providing a custom built XYZ assembly offering moves speeds of up to 3 m/s (36 in/s) and resolutions from 50µm to 0.1 µm,
the LSG a shortcut to the design of automation machinery.

The LSG offers many benefits over conventional gantry systems based on rotary components and ballscrews. In addition to a more compact design, the LSG offers exceptionally high move and settle times, high accuracy with 1 µm resolution and 5 µm repeatability. The use linear motor components also offers higher servo stiffness with no backlash.

Each axis features linear brushless AC cog-free servo motors consisting of a stationary magnet track and moving coil assembly, bearings, encoder, limit switches, cable carrier and option of bellows or covers. The gantry can move a payload of 9 kg (20 lbs) vertically or horizontally at varying speeds and accelerations.

Using linear motor technology, the LSG is more compact than conventional gantry systems and is ideal for applications where space is at a premium. The LSG is available in sizes from 152 x 152 mm (6 x 6 in) to 2000 x 1500 mm (78 x 60 in) in the XY plane.

The LSG platform can be combined with Baldor’s FlexDriveII servo control and NextMove motion controller to offer a complete solution for the most demanding of applications.
